Ira Ono came to the islands on vacation in 1968 and never left.

He created Volcano Garden Arts from a vision he had of a center where people involved in all the arts could come to be inspired and create work in this amazing landscape. In 2012 Volcano Garden Arts was awarded the coveted Betty Crocker Landscape Award.
